About Broccoli Mom

Welcome to Broccolimom.com!

My name is Jennifer and I’m the mama to the “broccoli mob”, three beautiful boys and one smiley baby girl. The boys are Ben-6, Alex-4, and Lucas-4 (yeppers, Twins!), and the babe- Emma is just a wee little thing.

Broccoli husband- Jason, and I practice attachment parenting. We are big believers in healthy food, strong bodies, and happy children. Our backyard is our playground and home to our chickens and a teensy garden. Broccoli dog- Oscar is the last member of our family and he’s a happy pup.

I fell down the “healthy/crunchy” rabbit hole a few years back after our first son was born, and I kicked it into high gear when one of our twins was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in January of 2012. We started working on going gluten-free in 2013 when one of the boys started having severe stomach pains and an ER visit showed a huge amount of gas in his intestines. We found that we all started to feel better, have more energy, and better attitudes. Some research led us to the paleo lifestyle, which is what we strive for today. We aren’t perfectly paleo, but we are working on it.

For the past two years I’ve worked as a birth doula and home birth assistant, but this is all changing now. I’ve been accepted to nursing school and am ready to start this new season of my life.

A few other things of interest about me: I crochet and am a little bit crafty, you’ll find some tutorials on here from time to time. Our little girl was born at home, in the water….yes, on purpose. I’m a huge advocate of breastfeeding and baby wearing. That’s me in a nutshell.
